LUFC Mario Party League Enters Its Third Season

That’s right, you read this right. The LUFC Mario Party League enters its third season, with even more excitement, production value, and quality than previous seasons! This season, the committee reviewed our previous players feedback, and made some big changes, which you can also read on our website here.

Some of the noteworthy changes that happened for this season’s rule-set and formatting:

Players Count Updated From 16 to 20 Players

Playoffs Format (Section 4)

3 total games will take place. Two Quarter Final Games, And one Semifinal game. Quarterfinals Game 1: 5th through 8th will play one game with standard regular season rules formatting, with the top two advancing. Quarterfinal Game 2: 9th through 12th will play one game with standard regular season rules formatting, with the top one advancing. Semifinal Game: Winners From Quarterfinals Game 1 and 2, along with the 4th place player, will compete in a 35 turn game, other regular season rules formatting applies, with the top one advancing to the finals.

Map Changes (Section 8)

Banned Faire Square

Finals Format (Section 4)

The top four players play a set of 3 games, two of them at 35 turns, and one of them at 50 turns, to determine the winner.

Player Absences And the "No-Show" Bot (Section 6)

It is the player’s responsibility to notify an admin or committee member at least 48 hours in advance of their game’s start time to arrange for a rescheduled game. The committee will then contact the affected players of that game to help propose a new time/ day to play the game.

If a player fails to notify the committee before the 48-hour window, and the other players cannot participate in another date or time on shorter notice, we will be implementing something called the “No-Show” bot.

  • This bot will play in place of the player in order for the game to be played on the day proposed. The bot will be set to hard difficulty.

  • This bot gives the player who was absent from the game an automatic 4th place. This does mean that if the bot does get better than 4th place within the game, then the players’ rankings will slide up. For example, if the bot got 2nd place, 3rd and 4th place would move up, and that bot would force that player to receive 4th place, and the other two players would receive 2nd and 3rd place points.

  • This bot can only be used once per season for a player. If a player ends up performing another no-show during the season and a bot is required for the game to play that day, then the committee will go under a formal meeting along with the player to determine if action is required on the player, up to a ban from the league if necessary.

Amendments (Section 11)

Amendment 1: Added that all games on Mario Party 1 will play with the "MGR: Keyboard Mini-Game Replacements" cheat contingent that we have at least one player that utilizes keyboard.

Amendment 2: Microphone Minigames will not be played, nor mic minigame spaces be used.

We’re very excited to see you all compete, good luck, have fun, and make sure to tune in for some crazy content!
